A focal point helps if it has meaning for some.
The best i have seen so far was are pictures to hold and stuffed animals. You can sqeeze the stuffed animal and it is soft. Or throw it across the room playing catch. I have seen it, they had fun.
Try not to use the clock on the wall. Most of the women I have been with during labor have said it reminded them how long it was taking. One we even covered it for a while. But you just never know you may like it.
good luck congrats hun

I dont think bringing anything to focus on would have helped me any of the times I was in labor.. I had all 3 of my children all naturally with no drugs and focusing was not on my mind. It all just happened and I was in a lot of pain and basically the whole experience was kind of just a blur because of how much pain I was in. I guess things kind of just shut down so your body can deal with what its going through. I remember the pain and I remember bits and pieces, but a focal point would have done no good for me.

I found that I didn't want to focus on anything external. For me, labor was a very inward focused process, kind of like riding a bike up a big hill. I didn't want to look toward the top; I just wanted to look down, watch the road go by, and keep pushing the pedals, one revolution at a time.
My husband tried to talk to me, and I found it very distracting.
I just wanted to do my own thing.
So I guess I don't have any suggestions about what your focal point should be except to say that maybe you won't need one.

personally, the last thing I wanted when I was in labor was a focal point! Furthermore, I didn't even want anyone in the room to talk to me, look at me, or touch me! lol (except my husband of course). I pretty much had my eyes closed the whole time!
Good luck tomorrow :)

I remember what it was like to be nervous...
I didn't really focus on anything. I didn't really need to, though, because I took advantage of all of the drugs that they offered me (I'm not big on pain at all).
I think that I was more afraid than anything, though, and the one thing that kept me from TOTALLY losing it to a panic attack was to take it one contraction at a time. Also, my mother never left my side. That made it better.
I didn't focus, though, until the end. The only thing I wanted, by the time it was over, was to get the baby out.

You could bring your ultra sound picture in with you. But like Yarro basically said, you can plan on something and it might not feel right at the time. GOOD LUCK, hope it is quick easy and painless!!!
