Try another generation's view; lets go back to the beginning. Why not Carl Perkins "Blue Suede Shoes" or Bill Haley & The Comets "Rock Around the Clock" but if you want to go one generation back do some research and see who really started the sounds that led to today's Rock and Roll. There have been too many songs that could qualify for the honor to name just one without a nationwide poll.
Elvis brought it all to nationwide attention on Ed Sullivan and it got too big for anyone to say who or what started it all but everyone has their own opinion.

I like your choice for AC/DC. Maybe Iron Man by Black Sabbath or Unholy Confessions by Avenged Sevenfold (the guitar, anyways)
