God bless you, my son is autistic, both boys would qualify for S.S.I-which is $ every month, and free medical, go to your local Social security office and then you fill out forms, they see doctors etc, it takes awhile but they'll get the $ retroactive, have it 'direct deposited' into [ i would assume 2 separate] bank accts. one for each boy- with your name on the acct. they will also qualitfy for early intervention-- free [special] nursery school, and free transportion to and from school to your door.,

Hello, there are plenty of programs for children with autism. I didn't see which state you happen to be in. Check the websites below. These are some of the best sites concerning families with children who are autistic. My son has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome which is a lesser form of Autism. I live in Washington State and there are several programs he can benefit from here. Now, there may not be direct financial funding for the children but, there are services like speech therapy and focused learning at school available. Ask the teacher's at the school the kids will be going to and try asking a pediatrician too! Do the research, ask any and all the questions you can, keep your head up! You are doing an amazing thing for the benefit of these children. Good luck!

First of all, bless you for being willing to do what needs to be done for your grandsons. There IS help-not necessarily with funding, though. I think you may find that hard to come by unless you are financially considered low income and can qualify for Medicaid or food stamps. There is no special funding that I know of set aside for families with children that have disabilities.

I would start with the Autism Society of America-www.autism-society.org. Also, if the 5 year old is old enough for kindergarten, you will find alot of help in your public school system(depending on where you live, though). Near us, even 4 year olds with special needs attend public school in a program just for them. But even if he is not old enough or there is not a program for 4 year olds, the school systems are invaluable in providing direction and help for special needs children. You could also contact your local department of family and children's services. There not just there to deal with foster kids, but to help families like yours!

Early intervention in autism is KEY. The sooner you get help, the better opportunities your grandsons will have. Good luck to you...
