I am in a bind, and only need to print in black and white, but I ran out of yellow, and get the message "Cannot print. Replace empty cartridge to resume printing. I just want to know, is there any way around this?

Thank you.

With this particular printer no. The cartridges are smart chipped and work as an on/off switch, when one cartridge is empty the printer will default to the off position.

There is no way around this. You need to replace the cartridges. All of your colour cartridges are involved with greyscale/black printing. The black is not a true black and the color cartridges are require to darken and sharpen the black.

if you can get to the original print command (from 'file'), there is a box that says 'properties'. Click that, find the "color" tab, and choose shades of gray. Good luck, not sure it will help.

go into advance or it might be labeled preferences options when going to print and you are looking for the tab color tab, select grayscale and than black ink only. click apply than ok.
