I would like to promote my products without paying PR people a fortune. Is it possible for me to get my products in glossy magazines (allure, glamour, etc.), and beauty newsletters such as dailycandy on my own, or do I have no choice but to hire someone to do it? Thanks in advance.

Prweb.com will be a step in the door it will definalty turn up results with what ever tab lines you enter on google as well as provide sites with an intrest in your product or field with something to pick up. Give it a try they have a free basic service, and you can upgrade if nessary.

Typically your PR needs to be of such a newsworthy note that the major magazines pick it up.

However, you can have a much better chance at getting it picked up by local newspapers.

Also, you can use http://www.prweb.com

The other way to get your products listed is to pay big $$$'s.

Try doing your own advertising first - develop your market - and expand as your business grows. Unless you can afford to pay top dollar for advertising.

Advertising, like real estate, is all based on location, location, location. How successful do you want your product to be? What's your target market? What is your advertising budget? Do you already have an ad made up? PR people do more than take your money....a good one will be worth every penny you pay them. They are the professionals who know what's best for various products, etc.

Just figure out where you want to advertise and call the magazine on your own. Magazines usual have advertising inforamtion inside them and are more than happy to speak with you.
