Not eating is usually not a good sign, but sometimes a fish will stop eating for a day with no apparent reason. Watch him for any other signs of something wrong and see if he will eat tomorrow. Not eating by itself isn't enough to go on and be able to suggest anything that might be wrong.

I have 3 male Betta, and at the moment, one female...I feed my Betta's once a day, every day...3 pellets. In less than 5g, the water should be changed (1/2) daily, or 100% every other day (unfiltered tank)...if you don't ammonia will build up and kill your Betta! If your tank is filtered, than a 25% water change daily, 1/3 every three days, or 1/2 once a week...the 25% is the best way to do it!!!

I agree, not eating is not a good sign. How warm is his water? Fish need a warm temp to properly digest their food...undigested food rots in the stomach causing all kinds of problems. If you keep your house warm (around 74 deg. F, then the water in an unheated bowl should be fine (bowl being 1-1.5g..no less). If you keep your house cold, you need to get a tank big enough to add a heater to...Betta like it around 78 deg. F.

You have changed his water, has he pooed yet? he may be constipated (sorry, have not experienced that yet...feed 1/2 of a thawed and mashed (frozen) pea...de-shell it first...that should help (read on Internet).

Good luck with your Betta

My betta usually doesn't eat right after I changed its water. I think it takes time for it to get used to. Plus it might be because you change the water too often I've read on the internet that it's not good to change the water too often. I've also had a betta in that past that wasn't eating and seemed a little sluggish. I asked someone who knew a lot about bettas and told that it sounded like my fish had something called Ich and told me to get a bottle of Rid-Ich. It's a blue fluid that you put in the bowl or aquarium (only a few drops though). Its seemed to cure my betta of it's Ich and it lived on for another 2 years. Hope I've hepled.

do you know that you are only supposed to feed a betta fish 3-4 times a week?? over feeding is the number one reason why these fish dont live long in homes!! You may be overfeeding the poor guy. (I know that the back of the food bottle says to feed every day, but this is not a good guideline to follow when it comes to bettas)
