I cannot hit very well. I can play everything else well, but how can I work on my batting before tryouts? I really need help.

Here's a drill that helped me out. Get a rope and a baseball. Tie the baseball to the rope. Tie the rope to a tree branch. Get your favorite ball and swing at it. Swing level and fast. After a few weeks, you'll be hitting very well. (Note: Remember not to stand in the way. The baseball could hit you when it comes around!)

Go to the batting cages and spend a few pitches just watching the ball. Stand as you would bat, but instead of swinging, follow the ball with your eyes and head from the machine to the backstop.
Once you've gotten that down, start taking some swings. Make sure your swing is level and do not dip your back shoulder; that results in a more upper cut swing.
To work on level swinging, use a tee. The tee is the most fundamental item in any ball players swing.
And last but not least, find a stance in which you not only feel comfortable in, but also allows you to have a smooth swing.

There are literally a thousand answers to your question, so I'll just give you a few suggestions.

Focus! Don't try to hit the baseball, try to hit a tiny spot in the middle of the baseball. Do it while you are hitting live pitches and soft toss. A good way to practice this is by hitting beans. Buy a bag of white beans at the grocery store (I forget what kind of beans they are) and have someone pitch them to you from about 10-15 feet away.

Use the lightest bat available to you. A lighter bat gives you more control. There is a HUGE difference between a 28 ounce bat and a 30 ounce bat.

When you take soft toss, start by choking up and swinging with ONLY your top hand. Then choke up and swing with ONLY your bottom hand. Then use both hands. MOST IMPORTANT WITH THIS>>>>> You need to make sure that when you swing with one hand, you are replicating your normal swing path with that hand. If you change your swing path to swing with one hand, you are causing even more problems.

I can completely relate. I would pull my head and dip my shoulder.
A few things my coaches have had me do to improve my hitting are drills like having someone throw a ball from behind and you have to hit it when you see it cross in front of you, or have someone soft toss to you so you can get your swing right and build it into your muscle memory.
Once you have a good swing, start having people pitch to you or go to a batting cage if you can't find anyone and get your timing right.

Try to find a batting cage in your home town and spend as much time as you can there.

Also, make sure that the bat you are using is comfortable for you.

Try using a batting practice device like the hit-a-way or solohitter

I have the same situation.I field and throw good but I get a hit every other game.Thats it.I always go to the batting cages.Don't know if that would help.Try gooing to a instrutional league where they show you how to swing and make contact. If you don't get better you should try being an infielder of you can field well.Sadly fielding is always overlooked.

My son is 11 and has over come this obstacle too... PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE... Your the only one that can improve that one, have your mom or dad or older brother/friend throw to you, every day!!! Make sure its someone that can accurately throw, otherwise you will just be chasing a lot of balls!

Well if you have a good arm you can always try pitching since those guys rarely know how to hit.
