i am bi... my rents are extremely catholic (like die-hard)... they severly dislike gays (one memorable convo about gays was my mom saying that it was "wrong" & "disgusting")

should i tell my rents that i am bi? or should i just keep them in the dark? if i should tell them... if i ever do tell them... how should i tell them? how do i talk to them about it or bring it up?

Die-hard catholic... oooo!! Depends what you mean by that. If it is anything like my family, which it sounds like it is, it would probably lead to A LOT less trouble if you just keep them in the dark. I guess it depends on how close you are to them AND if you think they are actually going to accept you for who you are, you know? Honestly, if they really, really are against it, they could just "dis-own" you. Not trying to be an sarcastic, just my opinion of what could happen from the info you gave.

if you really don't think that they will accept you then I would keep it under your hat for a little while. I would love to say that becuase they're your parents they should love you no matter how you identify, but I know that that is sadly not always the case. I'm not sure about the best way to bring it up- if they're completely anti-gay then there really is no good way. Thankfully my parents were really understanding so I don't have a lot of experience in this area. if you need to talk though, email me.

Unless you find someone you are going to spend the rest of your life with. And unless that person is a woman I wouldn't chance it. However when and if that situation comes along be VERY careful and who knows they might surprise you. My parents are ultra-conservative Christians I thought they would totally flip but after some counseling that they sought out on their own they are totally cool now

I've said before and I'll say it again. In reality, you're sexuality is your PERSONAL business, no one else's. Well, except maybe your partner. You shouldn't feel like you need to tell them unless you just happen to really want to.

Here's the logic. Did you immediately go and tell your parents ever detail of when you first masturbated? Of course not (I hope not...). It really is none of their concern.

But please, if you feel you have to come out. Be careful. Like Bill said, lots of bad, irreversible things can happen when they can't (or wont) accept you. Be wise and be careful.

hey im 14 and im bi, everyone knows about me exept my family. theres no easy way to tell your parents, but if they have unconditional love for you than it wont matter, it depends on how old you are if your like my age (14) i wouldnt say anything cause lol you still live with them. i would wait till your older to tell them. if they treat you different thats screw up cause im sure your a good person, and people shouldnt treat you different especially your parents. i wish you good luck in the choice you make =]
