Of course, it is not known, but estimated, and it's contantly changing; people are born, people die.
You could go to www.un.org -- United Nations.
I believe www.census.gov has a US AND a world population "clock" with the current estimate.
I belive it passed the 6 billion mark in -- was it October? Well, recently.

In the world there are about 6 billion people now where most of them live in China,India,USA,Indonesia and any part of this world in 5 continents :Asia,Europe,Africa,America and Australia.
