Whenever I'm driving, it seems all the other drivers should easily get a speeding ticket and are driving much faster than me, even though I am already 10 mph over the speed limit. This couldn't possibly happen everywhere I go and noone gets caught by the cops, so I think it might be a problem with the speedometer. How much would this type of repair cost? would it be worth to fix it? Otherwise my car is still running great at 145k. I plan to drive it to at least 200k. Thanks in advance.

This isn't about racing anyone or wanting to speed more, but if saysfor example someone's speedometer is going 25mph, while at the same time mine is also, but they are going noticable faster, that is a concern. It puts more milage on my car faster than it really should read.

Join the club. I am from San Antonio and there is one stretch of highway going to Kelly AFB that the speed limit was 55, I am doint 65, and you guessed it. Everyone seemed like they were late for work.

I would just keep the speed limit, especially if everyone is passing you. Do not worry about the other guy cuz when you get a ticket he sure is not worrying about you paying it.

Not worth checking till the needle stops moving.

The only real thing that could go wrong with the speedometer is the cable breaking loose from the driveshaft or the cable just simply needs to be removed and lubricated and put back in. I think that it definitely would be worth it if the car is still running great. I do not know what area you are in,so if I were you I would look in the yellow pages under auto repair and call some places and compare prices. I do not recommend your local Acura Dealer because of the age of the car. I have never had this done to my car so I can't really tell you a ballpark figure, however I do know a little about speedometers and stuff like that. (that is how I came to this conclusion).

Hope this helps, have a nice Day!!!
