I like helping people. Isn't that what this site is for? Sometimes my answers are a little more lengthy than I intended, but I try to get as much of my message across as possible. Usually the questions I answer require a long response to give someone the full answer, which is what I want, not just part of it. The way I look at it, if the asker doesn't want to read my response because it is too long, they are not really wanting an answer, are they? Just a quick fix. And sorry, but the world doesn't need any more quick fixes. If that's what you want, then go get on some type of medication, that's what those are there for.

Man seeks to bring order to chaos. Where there is chaos, there is disorder and confusion.

When someone does not have a thing ordered within his mind, he is aware of the chaos - a thing unresolved within his mind - and he cannot tolerate that disorderliness. He seeks to clarify it.

They ask a question and in so doing, they are stating that they have an unresolvedness within their mind -- a darkness of inclarity. Others, seeing this disorder, attempt to bring order to the observed chaos (the question) in the others' mind and to shed some light (understanding) on the matter.

The answerer observes possible further confusion brought about by his explainings. And so, to avoid this, he offers the fullness of his understanding of the topic.

The subject may be complex and require there to a verbosity. Or, the answer provider may attempt to have the questioner look at the subject from different angles in an effort of complete understanding -- some things cannot be fully seen from certain vantage points but they can be seen quite clearly from others.

After all, it is better to live in the light of understanding than in the dark of ignorance.

And thus, we have order.

... and besides, we care!

some people are slow learners and maybe slow readers but retain a lot more than a person who skims their material. those who skim take what they need for the moment and then forget what they've read because to them it is immaterial.

those who don't skim have retained all that material regardless of its usefulness...or not. then when it is necessary to empathize with another person your own experiences help but so does a lot of that useless information that the regular Joe discards.

if you expect the other person to catch the ball you wish to throw at them, they're more apt to catch it if you tell them it's coming.

I guess they do it to reassure themselves that there geniuses. Me on the other hand knows I'm far from a genius, and am honest about it. This is the reason this answer is so short.
