Most all of those answers are true, but there was more to it if you were a German in the 30's. To the average German citizen, the Nazi party was the party that was going to get Germany back on its feet. The average citizen, and even lots of German soldiers had no idea about the horrors of the holocaust. Hitler hid that even from his own people. Also, many young teen boys were drafted into the Nazi army without having any real idea what they were fighting for. However, modern Nazi's are just racist, extremist fools.

The Nazis were fanatically convinced that Germans were the Master Race whose destiny was to rule Europe; purify Europe from Western decay, eliminate Bolshevism, and put Russia out of action permanently. They also hated weaklings of any description, and this included homosexuals, psychiatric patients, the mentally retarded, drug addicts, Jews, Gypsies, pacifists, and all inferior races. They considered miscegenation (mixed racial marriages) a crime and embarked on a vicious eugenics program, sterilizing huge numbers of people who were considered unfit to reproduce.
They despised intellectuals (and any kind of free thought). They practically worshipped violence. They were arrogant, cruel, vicious, corrupt, crazed and evil.
