I went into pre-term labor on Feb 9th and was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced. I just went off of bed rest this Monday (March 12th) and being upright has caused me to lose my mucus plug. It started this week with just a little bit, but today, there was a big clump that came out. I'm 35 weeks and have had lots of contractions (not braxton hicks) since week 30. I'm still on my anti-contraction pills, but will go off of them on Tuesday. I wonder if I'm really going to make it much longer. Do you think I've dialated more since Feb 9th? My doctor won't give me any real answers and she won't check me till March 22nd (which at the rate I'm going with contractions, I wonder if I'll make it to even then.) What do you think are my odds of making it much longer before giving birth?

Oh, and my hips are ABSOLUTELY killing me. They feel like they aren't even fully attached anymore....I'm just assuming that this is my hips widening for birth.

Also, the baby has been engaged for a LONG time. Even before 30 weeks

From what everyone has told me (My first pregnancy too), that once u lose your mucous plug, its within a couple days of birth.
Not sure how accurate that is, but it definately sounds like ur on your way pretty soon.
But, dont worry, ur baby will be fine. U r far past the crucial point and he/she will do well.
GOod luck to u and best of wishes hun!

Loosing a plug can mean only a few things. 1) that you are dilating and 2) labor will start in it's own time. I lost mine 2wks ago have been contracting but they are Braxton Hicks. Also you said that yours are not, if they are true labor contractions they **will not stop** at all, Braxton Hicks do.
True labor contractions progress (get stronger and last longer and get shorter rest periods.)
Also all contractions will help you dilate and efface whether it's one or the other. Contractions are there for a reason to help labor the baby out!!
Regarding your hips, mine are to the point that I can barely walk, but Dr does say that it's the baby settling in position that pushes and pulls on muscles. For me this is very uncomfortable! Tylenol helps alittle, helps to take off the edge at least, not much else can be done though.
My other suggestion is: Don't just go up to Labor/Delivery to have them check you, it's a waste of your time and money as well as theirs. When you go into labor you will know it. Contx. 3-5 or less apart and last 45-60 seconds each time and you can't speak through them. Yes, call Dr in AM stress to them how you feel. Most doctors also have others in practice w/ them, try another if yours wont help. Lots of info , sorry but hang in there! Your almost there!! I'm due in 3wks can't wait.

i lost mine 6 weeks before i delivered and i never had any contractions all the way up to when i was enduced at 38 wks, took until 2 hours b4 i delivered for them to get stronger

Oh and just go into labor and delivery and get checked, they cant send you home. Just say you been contracting if ya have to lie abit, like they been regular and so on
. All they will do is check you and moniter your contractions and possible urin sample. If all is good you go home
You never shoudl second guess these things so always be causious ok

From what you say- Not long at all! Any day or hour and Congradulations! If you feel the least bit nervous -go to the hospital! No one even a Doc can tell when that little one is ready to greet his family and I wish you all the best!( At the hospital after hours they will check your dialation!)

It's really hard to say. I went into pre-term labor with my daughter when I was 7 months pregnant, but they stopped it. I started dialating early too, but I made it up to my due date. When I lost my plug, I thought it was be very soon, but it was over a week later that I went into labor!

I started losing my plug at 28 weeks and by 36 weeks my doctor said it was gone. I didn;t have my daughter until 38, so it doesn't mean that you are about to start labor, although it is a good sign.

Be careful. Rest and take excellent care of yourself. Do not stress yourself or that baby. Call your doctor's office tommorrow AM-- ask to be worked in-- you need to explain in depth about what is going on.
