They can look at it, but you don't want you newborn spending time staring at it. He probably wil be more interested in looking at faces right now anyways.

I'm sure if she looks occasionally, it'll be okay. However, the concern is prompted by the knowledge that tv produces altered brain states in children, putting them in a sleep state, essentially, while awake. Also, if you watch a tv screen, starting counting every time a screen shot starts, then start over when the image shifts. For most shows today, even kids' shows, you won't be able to do much more than say, " 1, 2, 1, 1,1,1, 1,2,3,1,1,2,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,1,.

This rapid shifting of images is death to the attention span.

Yes, they shouldn't look at them, but they do anyways thinking 'oo, flashing pictures'

Seriously, I don't think any newborn should look at screens, but for me, I've always kept the TV on for company. You can train your child to ignore TV if you have he or she has the right type of personality. what I've done is I've always left the TV on at low volume. When my daughter rivits to it, I turn it off. I've kept doing that for a few months. Now she just ignores the TV and plays with her toys instead. However, she still rivits to the TV when there's a big picture of an animal or tomato though.

Never heard of it but WHY would you put a newborn in front of any of these things? The only thing that should be in front of newborns face is mom and dad and other people that love them.
