I am leaving tomorrow on a road trip to California, (I live in Oklahoma), to visit my daughter. Thing is recently she had to give up her kitten and cannot have pets outside of a cage. So I am going to bring her my Anoles. How to keep them warm while traveling, I mean I will be driving until 10pm, then stop at a hote. where we can heat them up, then on the road first thing in the am, and then drive all day, should be in California by dinner time, will they be okay? I dont want them to die or anything.

power inverters are nice. They plug into vehicle cigarette lighters. You can plug several things into it.

I have no idea what you are using for a travel cage but would suggest something small enough to ride on the seat under some kind of light stopping cover. Inside the car while you are traveling, they will be fine unless they are exposed to heat from the floor, the heater, or sunlight. Take them into the hotel with you at night to keep them warm. Heat and cold are hard on reptiles, try to keep the Anoles between 50* - 90* F but DO NOT let them sit in the sun or near a concentrated heat source, like the exhaust pipe under the floor or the heater and they should make the trip just fine. CAUTION ! If you need to stop to eat or potty breaks where the car is closed up and locked, put the container on the floor and cover to keep the sun off of it and leave the windows cracked slightly to stop excessive heat buildup in the car. Drive carefully and enjoy the trip.

Well, blanket will keep a bit of warmth in, but they don't produce their own body heat to keep warm....

Get some of those self-heating hand warmer things. Not sure exactly how warm they get or stay, but I'm sure the packaging will tell you... either put underneath what you are transporting them in or inside their transport container (if they don't get really hot, but I'd still wrap them up in something in case of chemicals...) Hot water bottles if you can keep them warm... if the windows in the vehicle are going to stay up, and the heater works, that should be fine too..... Remember, Anoles do fine here in Florida even in the "dead of winter". Yeah, yeah, that's why I put quotation marks around it......

Just remember that cars heat up in the sun even it is winter, so don't leave him in the car because it may get over a temperature that will kill him. For example in california it will probably still get quite warm in your car so just be wary of that.

Make sure you keep a blanket or something wrapped around him/her.
