They cannot go back and revisit a case once a decision has been made.

If a similar issue comes up at a later date, they have the right to rule on the case and change any previous precedents that they feel need to be changed.

Social issues have been revisited as society changes. Every time a case is heard, every aspect of a case is examined and in judicial opinion personality has to have a small effect on judgment.
