I recently took my first shot of depo-provera on february 6. My Dr. told me that it would work because my period began on february 2. But My periods only last 3 days. And now my breasts are sore and swollen and I am sleepy. Could I be pregnant? Did the shot even work?

You could be pregnant .. Have u gotten your periods this month are you late? If your worried then do a Home Pregnancy test. I was on depo but it was'nt the contraception for me as i did fall pregnant on it.

Yes, the shot works right away. I took my first shot of it a couple of days after my period and it worked. You're breasts are sore and swollen because that's one of the side effects but don't worry it will go away.

its probably just side affects and your hormones. i have been on depo for 12 yrs. i dont even have a period anymore. i have experienced tender breast as well. dr said it was just hormones. Since you just received your first shot i would use extra protection just to be safe.
