the first time I was almost 8 weeks... but only because I wasn't quite positive on the last menstrual. some doctor offices will do one pretty early just to measure for an accurate due date. you should probably ask your doctor when they routinely do them.
I also had another one done today (i am 16 weeks) because I transferred doctors.... and there was confusion on which due date on my chart was correct (there were like 3) AND I found out today it is a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, it can be real soon or a little bit later... if you have any real concern about how the baby is doing, the doctor will normally order a u/s just to be safe

8 weeks. First appt. It looked like a peanut.
I have had one every month since then because I am high risk. I am now 31 weeks and will get another next week.
He has changed alot since the first u/s. Last week he had his eyes open and was looking around while sucking the back of his hand. lol Truly amazing.

I just had my ultrasound today! I'm 12 weeks. He or she was so active, just kicking and jumping. I think at 6 weeks there wouldn't be much to see...they start looking more like little people at 8 weeks, and mine looked like a teeny tiny baby! You will be so excited when you see that ultrasound! It makes the pregnancy so much more...real, I guess. Good luck!

First time about 7 weeks. I am getting an ultrasound to check health and of course gender this week.

I saw my youngest at 10 weeks, my oldest at 12 weeks, the other two 20 weeks each.

8 weeks he went from a dot to a baby at 19 and again at 22 weeks!!

7 weeks, but he was just a little spot on the screen. At 20 weeks, we saw his face, eyes, nose, etc. but couldn't make out the details of his fingers or toes very clearly. At 36 weeks, we saw fingers, toes, and the hair on his head. We watched him chew on his toes. It was so neat!
