Everything will burn if given enough heat to reach its ignition temperature. The ignition temperature is simply the temperature at which something will burn.. Example: The ignition temperature of paper is 452 degrees Fahrenheit.

The sulphur of the match has an ignition temperature low enough that the heat from the sun is enough to raise it to its ignition temperature.

Some things have such a low ignition temperature that they will ignite at room temperature. eg. Phosphorous.

It makes it hot enough for the chemical on the tip to burn
