It seems that the blazer now has these shiny-silver looking spots located all over the blazer. Is there a way to get rid of these spots?

About the only way you might be able to save your jacket is take it to the cleaners, it might come out in the cleaning process or when the steam hits it in the pressing process.
Don't expect miracles though as I worked in the dry cleaning business for years and I have seen a lot of clothes come into be done with the marks you describe, but very few can be repaired.

uh oh. Have you tried brushing with a clothes brush. Brush one direction and then the other. You need to raise the nap. Maybe vinegar and water on a cloth and quick press to get steam into the fibers, let cool and then brush.

Normally you use a moist pressing cloth to generate more steam and less heat when freshening up a blazer. With today's steamers, you can avoid the iron all together.
