Go online to the dept. of vital statistics in the state that you were born and look for the link to birth certificate. You can get one through the mail if you complete the online application or print one out , fill it out and send in by snail mail!

Juvsu is right. Use the website for the county of birth, fill out the information, and pay by credit card. Some require checks. I got my daughter's birth certificate for her college application this way, and a copy of my husband's birth certificate from Puerto Rico.

my husband just ordered one for our cruise. Go to the website of the county in which you were born. He did his totally on line. You have to give all your information so that no one else can pretend to be you. He paid by credit card but you can send in a check it just takes a little longer that way. Also he had to fax in their form and a driver's license. Quick and easy. Hope this helps.
