A rich person is anyone that considers their life to be as it should. Money could be a factor of that, but doesn't have to be the only thing. I consider myself extremely rich because I have a great wife, 3 outstanding dogs, parents that love me and a great group of friends. Not to mention I have a great job that does happen to pay well.
If you are talking money then I would say whatever amount of money someone could comfortably live with and not have to 'want' for anything. That could be $1,000 a year for some people and $1,000,000 for others.
If you are talking my honest opinion I would think that anyone that makes over $100,000 a year and does not have a great amount of debt (meaning they can save some of their money) would be considered 'rich'.

To be rich would be the opposite of poor. Really rich people don't own"things" in their names.

If you work because you enjoy it, but can quit your job anytime and not worry about money, you're rich.
Numbers aren't important. Wealth is the ability to do what you want without having to worry about money.
