It is 1 - 2 inches long. it has a very dark shell, almost black. Its belly is golden/yellow with oblong circular shapes. and its skin is dark greenish with yellow stripes. And also, its shell looks very dry.

please identify my turtle. and what it eats. and if you can, please tell me whether it is aquatic or land dwelling.

Please, please, please...

From the description, it sounds like it could be either a Painted turtle, Cooter or some variation of Slider. They all have hatchlings at this time of year and are all aquatic. I would recommend a nice 10gallon aquarium filled with 4-6" of spring water, underwater filter, basking spot above water and some low-fat aquatic turtle pellets for now- usually about 3 or 4 pellets once a day, but I would ultimately consider releasing it in a pond near where it was found since maintaining turtles requires a lot of regular water changes and maintenance.

Also, sorry, but I would NOT recommend lettuce or meat for now since meat can lead to bacterias that you do not want and lettuce can be touch and go, but certainly no iceberg lettuce like what is commonly found in salads.

Go and either google turtles or go to your library to ID it. Land turtles and water turtles need vastly different care so you really need to be sure which kind you have so you don't hurt or kill it. Snapping turtles are water turtles and actually eat meat, but they are easy to ID as they have long tails a sharp beak and the shell is spiky with the color being muddy and uniform (they look rather prehistoric).
Plus, not all lettuce is created equal. Go with loose leaf as iceberg lettuce is pretty devoid of nutrition.
Edit:
Lucky you as it looks like you got a good pet type turtle. It may be lacking color due to malnutrition, so I would dust it's food with a vitamin geared towards turtles. Make sure he's healthy also, before you expose any others to him since he's been wandering around the great outdoors for awhile. You could call it Roman after the lettuce LOL and the fact he was a roaming when you found him.

I think it will be good if you could bring your turtle to a aquatic shop. Show them your turtle and you will be able to buy the right food for your turtle.
For now, you could feed lettuces, etc; make sure those lettuces are small. I don't mean tiny, but the size which you think they can eat.

Be safe and either take it to a reptile vet or an exotic animal store. They will be able to tell you for sure what kind of turtle (land or water) you are dealing with.

Different turtles are going to need different care. You don't mention where you're from so that doesn't give geographic clues for ID. I can provide a website with photos for ID and caresheets. Try looking at the list of sliders, cooters, painted, and map turtles first.

Im not sure what kind it is or what it eats but I can tell you that you should be sure that its not a snapping turtle & I think that it needs swimming water & a rock when it doesnt want to be in the water.

NOTICE: Red-ear sliders ARE NOT VEGETARIANS! They eat more plant matter as they grow older, but young Red-ears are almost purely carnivorous.
