If you will look to the past to check what went wrong with man and fueled him to rebel it would be endless. In my point of view man's rebellion started in the garden of Eden when the first couple allowed themselves to be deceived by the serpent (the devil) and disobeyed God and committed the thing which they are clearly given instruction not to do - eating the fruit of the forbidden tree and the rest is endless cycle of rebellion and sin.

We became a independent country due to rebelling against the King of England-people in America could not be represented in Court/England but still had to pay taxes etc-one of multiple problems. People rebel to better themselves and get a better chance.
