I am in high school and hardly do anything after school unless it is school related with clubs. Orchestra and the musical related things drama ect. My friends are great friends nobody is mean or jerks we get along great. most of my friends are girls in orchestra and drama. I am not gay. How can I start doing things outside of school with friends without making it seem its a date.

bring like a couple of them along, either they'll think your a pimp, or they'll just think its just some kid having fun with his friends.

Let your friend know how rewarding it is to set time aside to help other people. There is greater value to be found in volunteering your time to improve the quality of life for yourself as well as for other people. Give yourself and life will return the favor. For some people, my reference to the word "life" is replaced with God, Jesus or more.

Tell him that you want to hang out but do something with more then just one friend. That will problem make them think that it not a date. aether that are get some guy friends to hang out with to a have a mix of girl friends and guy friends.
