If you are going too fast and your RPM is too high, you will hear a whining sound. Other than that, you may need to have it looked at.

i own a shop, and it could be a center bearing making this noise in it,i have a Nissan sentra that does this, and it still does shift real good, unless its real bother some sound i wouldn't worry too much about it, usually they,ll run around 50 thousand miles like this, and you can probably change the grease or oil in it,which ever it has,and quieten it down a lot,but right now unless its real bad ,i wouldn't bother with it,its a 5 dollar part, and like a 400 dollar labor bill to repair it,you can replace the transmission with a good used one cheaper than you can repair this one, good luck i hope this helps.

the fact that you have more rpm's built up in the engine than the tranny can endure in a lower gear and you are using the motor for a brake to slow the car/truck to a lower speed... so the engine is doing what is normal --- talking back to you and telling you that it is not good to use the engine as a brake and it is also hard on the clutch .... take your foot off the gas pedal ---- slow down and live calm/easy.......

Sounds like a synchronizer whining. It won't cause a real problem, but if it is still under warrantee, you should make the mftr fix it. Good luck.
