You should call their tech support before you format the hard drive. most companies have your install files on a hidden partition of the drive that allows for you to do repairs to your hard drive without doing a format to it. Also should you find yourself still needing to do the format, than use your CD drive with the format CD

If you are familar with computers, in the Bios, you must change it to load from C drive, and insert your XP Disc. The computer will boot the disc, and when you come to the part about particians, you want to remove the partician. That is actually formatting the Hard Drive, usually takes a while.

you can format and install with windows xp just insert the disk and reboot to get it to boot off cd when it's loaded choose the format and install option
You may have to alter your boot sequence in the bios to get it to boot off cd
