Well I have had this for quite some time now (going on 5 months) and am about to start physical therapy, but i was wondering if anyone out there might have any good ideas or has been through it before and could give me some helpful advice. My doc says it is a long healing process so the most trouble I am having is being patient because I love to run and ride my bicycle and can not do that at the moment. Any advice would be appreciated, I'll keep ya updated with my condition and how things are going. Thanks for being out there.

Physical Therapy is a good place to start, once you can get the muscles in your legs stronger, especially the medial quad muscle (VMO), you will probably notice some difference in your pain. You can also try a knee strap or a cho-pat. They are basically bands that go around the knee at the patellar tendon. You can get them at most sporting goods stores and even wal-mart or meijer may carry them. They are relatively inexpensive and may help you out a lot with the pain. Also it is important to make sure that you are icing after activity, you can also try heating before.

I have tendonitis in my wrists. You have to be patient or you could prevent it from healing back properly. Best thing to do is to ice it often (never heat) for 20 minutes. Then when you take the ice pack off, wait 10 minutes or so cuz you don't want to move your frozen body, it's not good. Usually doctors give anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen (900mg 3x per day) but you can substitute it for Bromelian (not sure of the spelling). It's not good to take ibuprofen for too long. Bormelian is an enzyme your body already produces that reduces pain and is a natural anti-inflammatory (make sure you take it properly, eating with and without food serves different purposes). It may take longer to work but it works and doesn't cause problems like ibuprofen does. Keep the weight off and elevate.

Look at it like this: if your not patient, you'll never get your former physical abilities back again and will prevent your body from healing.
