I need to wash a ink-stained bandanna. Will the ink stain other clothes in the washing machine?

I have a large bandanna that I use for ink painting (to dry the brushes after rinsing them). I would like to toss it in the laundry so I can reuse it.

NOTE: The ink I use is NOT like pen ink; it's much more watery, and I'm pretty sure it will come out. (I accidentally got some ink on one of my teacher's placemats last fall. All she had to do was put it in the washing machine, and it came out like new.)

However, I'm concerned that the ink might wash into other clothes and stain them while in the machine.
If it helps to know: the ink is made of charcoal ash (from wood) and water.

Why not hand wash it first? Use some Dawn or other dish soap, fill a bucket with warm water and let the bananana soak over night. Rinse it with clear water then wash it.

I would just wash it out really well in the sink instead of tossing into the laundry....Since it is just for drying brushes off it really won't matter if it is squeaky clean!

Try soaking it in a bowl of hot soapy water first. You may be able to just wash it in there.

You need to soak this separately use nappy san or similer don't use bleach then wash as normal

wash ti seperatly and in cold cold water if u wash it in hot it will never come out

just wash it by itself as i think the colour prob would stain.

try washing it by hand and see. or just do a really small load with clothes you arent too fond of.... like your painting clothes.

don't take a chance...try washing it by hand seperately from your clothes.

it probably will stain any lighter coloured clothes so be carefull
