One of their teams is owned(or at least backed) by an F1 owner. They are sitting at 10 teams with around 16 cars expected at every race, some of the teams that were going to run 3 are now only running 2 cars and some who thought they could run 2 are going to run only 1 car.
True condition of Champ is this, if they dont merge with the IRL they will be a blip in the history books within 5 years. They can continue to struggle for a few more years and the guys who purchased it after bankruptcy are dedicated to making it successfull, but with a lack of sponsorship for teams, the lack of a title sponsor, and the lack of a signature race(think Indy 500, Daytona 500) they just wont be able to sustain a league or series. They will still be around for a few more years, but the window for open wheel racing to regain the fans and status it had in the 80s and early 90s the two will have to become one.

Champ Car is going to be fine, thank you very much.
Right now we're looking at 17 or 18 cars with an expansion to 19 or 20 after Houston. Forsythe will most likely run a 2nd car -- Andrew Ranger and David Martinez are the front-runners there. PCM, Minardi, Coyne, PKV, Walker, and Newman-Haas are running 2 apiece for certain. At the moment, Conquest, RuSPORT and Rocketsports are running one each, but Bachelart and Gentilozzi both have strong leads for funding for 2nd cars.
The RuSPORT situation is disappointing, as it seems Dan Pettit is not living up to the promises he made when he purchased the team from Carl Russo, but otherwise, things aren't as bad as they seem.
Just relax and watch Las Vegas. The on-track product will be good, and that's all that really matters.

True condition over half the US population doesnt even know champ car exists, most of the world ranks it behind racing midget cars and go karts. Champ downward spiral for all this talk about teams racing multiple cars and great sponsorship they have nothing to show for it nothing not one thing. Wait they do have a bankruptcy to show for it, they have cars with no driver willing to drive, and cars being held up because nobody will sponsor them. Great series for losers, they should change their name to Foreign Underachievers Carting Championship.

Newman Haas and Indy 500 aside , you have champ car with the better cars and better races, with no name talent and f1 wash outs, vs irl better teams better drivers in ugly cars and boring races,
both series will be under 20 cars for the bulk of the season,
its allot like jack and the bean stalk, both are trying to sell you magic beans but all they have are beans, the difference is in this story you have a retarded goose laying rotten eggs

No. the belief is that drinks would be denser at decrease temperatures, whether gas saved underground is at a reasonably consistent temperature no count number how warm or chilly it fairly is. in case you had to queue for 2 seconds using fact the driving force in front had a similar theory you have got burnt extra gas than you saved if the belief grow to be real!. save a mild suitable foot and plan forward - you will shop gas and have a extra relaxing holiday.

Pretty pathetic.16 cars. When the split happened, I was on CARTs side.At the time they had the best teams and drivers. Now I'm not too sure.I love road racing,so I like CHAMPCAR.But I grew up in the late 50's,early 60's listening to the INDY500 on the radio with my dad.Somebody smack Paul Gentilosi and Tony George on the head and make these two KISS and make up.The future of OPEN WHEEL AMERICAN RACING depends on it.

the true condition is that this series is all about the racing and this racing is simply the best on the planet. they will have a new car (panoz dp01), new circuits (vegas baby!), new sponsors (red bull) and the best drivers in the sport (paul tracy and sebastian bourdais). who needs flying crap wagons? ie...IRL. yuck.

once again, you can thank Tony George for destroying american open wheel racing. Its a shame, it will never go back to the way it was.
