Okay, first thanks for actually reading this.

I have to do this essay about Romeo and Friar Lawrence's relationship in Act 3.

But, I need help with the right words. I want to say that their relationship is like a priest/friar and a _______.

I'm not sure what the right word is.
In other words, what do you call a person that goes to a friar?

Please and thank you in advance. (:

Romeo refers to Laurence as his "ghostly confessor." The relationship I think you're looking for is Priest/Penitent...but, it's more than that, isn't it?

Even though Laurence really isn't able to advise Romeo on matters of the heart and matters of physical love, he is the person Romeo turns to for advice when things get complicated. He's a mentor and a friend...with a spiritual bent.

Hey! I am reading Romeo and Juliet in English right now too. My teacher is explaining that Friar is like a father to Romeo. For example, the Friar knows much about his life such as dating Rosaline. I'm not sure if that helps much.

A penitent is the word you are looking for it would cover why Romeo is at Fr Laurence's Cell.

Fr Laurence is treating Romeo as a confessor and has to tell him the penalty of his crime.

Good luck on your paper.
