It is the fuel filter. A plugged fuel filter will flow enough fuel to idle the engine and also allow you to race the engine with no load on it (in neutral or park), but as soon as you put it in gear and try to take off it just dies. The same thing could happen with water in your gas during winter time (forms ice in the fuel line reducing fuel flow). If that's the case just use drygas/(fuel line antifreeze).

Need more information about the vehicle. Need the make/Year/miles so as to determine if the car is fuel injected or carburated. But for now it could be a fuel filter. A tune up would help your vehicle.

could very well be a fuel filter....or a fuel pump...you did not specify what year vehicle...so i do not know if its a electrical or mechanical fuel pump
