Okay, so my little sister was laid to rest several months ago (June '06) and every holiday my mom decorates her headstone. Well, for Valentine's Day, my mom put these gel hearts on it. Now, here comes St. Patrick's Day and my mom removes the gel hearts. Where each heart was, there was a oily silhouette of it. My mom can't seem to get rid of it. Any tips of how to remove substances/oil from granite?

Thanks, it's much appreciated. This is a Q from my mom, by the way. Lol. But she didn't have time to post a Q. So what the heck, I lent her 5 points.

It's likely that the rest of the stone has weathered while the gell hearts created a barrier. Clean the heart area with goo-gone, then clean the rest of the stone with mild bleach and detergent solution. Hope it works.

I say let it be...it is a memorial.

Those little heart stains from that visit are precious...a reminder of what you thought, felt and (probably) spoke that day.
