I'm only 11 years old (turning 12 on Friday, both my mom and my sister started their period when they were 12) and I started mine in November. There was a whole lot of blood that first month, which I've heard is unusual, is that bad? And then I got a VERY small amount in December, and basically missed it completely in January. I've had absolutely nothing in February, and it's March now. It usually comes at the end of the month, so I'm not quite sure whether I should wait, or get help. I brought up the subject casually with my mom, and when I asked her about late periods, she seemed to freak out, so I immediately lied about it and told her I only missed February and not both that and January, because the subject is still a little awkward for me. I've never had any sexual activity, and I'm pretty sure there hasn't been any contact with unclean surfaces. Is something wrong with me? I need professional, and SURE information that it's okay to miss periods. Is it? And if not, what do I do?

When a young girl begins her period, it is not unusual to have a showing one month, skip several months, then have another showing. It normally takes about a year for your menstrual cycle to stabilize itself, and as you are still very young, your body is likely going through that process. If it continues to be irregular for another six months or so, you may want to talk to your mom about visiting a doctor to find out what's happening.
Your mom probably freaks about late periods because so many young girls are having sex these days that there is always the possiblity of pregnancy. If you haven't been doing that, and I have to believe you when you say you haven't indulged in sexual activity, then you don't have to worry about it, and you can speak frankly to your mom and tell her that that is definitely not the cause of the problem.

You are okay, so don't worry. When you first start having your periods it sometimes takes a while (up to about a year) for your body to get "regular" and accustomed to the monthly cycles. Relax..if you don't feel comfortable talking with your own mom about your questions, perhaps one of your girlfriends' mothers would be easier to question. Your body is changing now..so don't be frightened by the changes. It is wise to keep track of when you start and the days you flow on a calendar so that you will sort of "know" when you might be having your period..but use it only as a guideline until your body gets "regular". It is quite normal to miss periods here and there until your body get regulated. It would probably be a great idea to carry a pad in your purse for "just in case". Good luck!

It is normal to have irregular periods when you first start out. Some months you have a lot of blood, some very little, and some months you just skip it. I heard that your period should start getting regular after about 1 year. If you are really worried, go talk to your doctor. Be honest with them, if you lie, they can't help you.

this is totally normal for your first year. I had the same problem when I first started and about a year later it was fine, you could have a lot of bleeding and sometimes hardly any you even might miss it once and a while do dont worry about that. There is also a book I recommend for you, its called What's happening to my body? a book for girls and it can tell you a lot as well.

hang in there!

For some girls it's unstable the first couple months - sometimes you'll get a lot of blood, sometimes a little... sometimes none at all! Wait a year and it should be more stable.

FYI: For me it was stable straight off the bat. Every girl is different. My sister gets her period every 6 weeks instead and that's normal for her.

Wizard, what's there to be "grateful" approximately bloating, cramps, nausea, issues, concerns approximately leaking and marking your outfits, and having to in specific situations make option plans like unlikely into the water on the coastline for the reason which you're afraid a shark ought to be waiting to smell the blood and attack you? perhaps in case you have been a girl, you would be extra appropriate waiting to comprehend that it's not something to be chuffed approximately. I fairly much envy the girls interior the previous. That grow to be using fact they very seldom had classes using consistently being pregnant or nursing. additionally all of them started having them later in life than ladies do right this moment. i can not wait till menopause comes. i wish it fairly is going to be right here interior some years. i'm now in my late 40s and a number of of girls my age have already been by way of it.

its totally normal for someone your age to have wacky periods. your body just has to get used to the cycle. until then, they will come at random times and vary in lengths of flow. if you havent come into contact with semen, you should be fine. just always keep a tampon or pad on you, in case you start randomly
