200 to 250 words per printed page. Average book length 100 - 140 thousand words give or take. So you have a long way to go to have a book. The publisher will work with you choosing font when and if you get to that point. I write all my manuscripts in Word - Times New Roman. Some editors like Courier New. Shrugs. It takes a second to change if that's what I need. C.

If you want specifics, I recommend reading the latest edition of the WRITER'S MARKET, published by Writer's Digest books. A copy will usually run you about $30 brand new, but it's definitely worth the cash. As to font sizes: If you're on your first draft, stick with the standard font (10-12 point) as you're only going to be rewriting it later. I don't recommend double-spacing, but you may want to do so on your final draft; check with whomever you wish to submit it to for guidelines. (See aforementioned WM for details.) The last book I wrote, I pushed out 225 pages on Microsoft Word, and ended up with 300 pages in the manuscript. Well, yank off about 10 for filler pages, etc... For now, the best program you can use is MSW, as just about all publishers run off of it. I wish you luck.

12-point Courier (or Times New Roman)

Double-spaced.

Take your word count and divide it by 250. That's the actual page number you will have in your book.
