I had this happen to me. You go the hospital and your doctor will give you an iv with medication to induce labor. You will pass the fetus naturally anywhere from one to four hours later. You will have the normal pain and contractions unless they give you a painkiller shot, too, as my doctor did, but you will still feel severe cramping. A word of caution, though--the nurse told me to just sit on the toilet and let it pass there but I could not bear the thought of having my child, although deceased, born in a toilet like a piece of crap so I stayed in the bed and they delivered it like they did my other children.
If this is happening to you, you have my sincerest sympathy. God bless.

At 5 months, it is considered a still birth. Even if the baby dies in the uterus. If it's premature labor, and they can't stop it, then the baby is born and given a birth & death certificate if it passes away. You can choose to have a funeral/memorial service for the baby. If you choose not to, I am guessing that they dispose of the baby with medical waste. (Couldn't do that myself, would have a funeral). If baby dies in the uterus, then I am guessing that they would have to induce labor or do a C-section.
I have a friend who's mom delivered a baby at 26 weeks. She had preecclampsia and had to be induced. The little one fought hard and was over coming so many obsticals, was only needing the assistance of a CPAP. Everything looked so good for her, until a tough bout with meningitis and lost the battle a couple of months later.

My water broke at 23 weeks and although the baby was still alive and kicking inside of me, my doctor induced labor. I went through regular labor because they wouldn't give me an epidural-only demarol (which doesn't lighten the pain at all).
Afterwards, we had our son cremated as I couldn't bear the thought of a funeral when I should have been celebrating a birth. I plan to spread his ashes one day, but haven't had the heart to part with them as of yet.

I have had two friends have this happen at 5 months and one had a funeral for her two twins. She went into premature labor so she actually had to deliver them with the whole feeling of labour and another friend who was injected with pills into her vagina to cause her to go into labor. With her they took the baby because she was under 23 weeks. You can choose to have a funeral though I'm pretty sure.

You can choose to deliver it. If you are five months and the fetus died at this age then it is fully developed.

Go to the hospital, depending on circumstances they may want you to deliver vaginally or by cesarean and they may attempt to revive the baby.
Go to the hospital if you think this is happening to you!

You would have to deliver the baby by being induced, then you would have a service and a burial for it.
