Banana tree cut down last week into 24 in. long by 9inch wide pieces. Centers of parts are trying to grow. Will pieces root?

Yes, usually bananas will send up "babies" at their base and you can take the babies and plant them. Banana is the oldest form of cloning.

put the parts in water and see what happens -- you get roots then you need to get a mixture of sand , good dirt, dab of plant food , and some coconut hull ground-up shavings and that will grow anything in your yard ..... pine tree needles also add good acid to the garden ......

if it looks like its sprouting then plant it!! usually they grow from shoots out of the left over roots!!
