supporting the troops only goes as far as telling them they are doing a good job in Iraq and that that conflict is meaningful in some altruistic way. Once thats done they are pretty much done supporting the troops. Taking care of them after they have taken the bullet is not a major concern for GWB.

If we take a step back, we could ask first with the 'billions' budgeted for the 'war', why are there stories of troops having to buy their own gear, not enough back-up and inferior weapons M-16 to enemies AK-47. The M-16 1's(whatever) cannot blow a door out, necessary in raiding spots but instead had to send someone in usually to get 'blown away'. I heard a troop ask Rummy about getting the necessary body armor they were short of and Rummy actually harshly responded by saying they should make do with what the army is has no matter what and keep going. Now no one can ask to see where all the billions have landed b/c that is 'black' area classified of course.

Ask the Republicans, who were in control of Congress from 1994 until this last election. The appropriations for veterans and the VA has gone down under their watch, and no investigatory hearings were held about the problems, either.

The V.A. hospitals are now starting to diagnose the TBI(Traumatic Brain Injury). They just finishing training all medical staff to recognize and treat T.B.I. They are also providing rehabilitation.I believe that they were unprepared for the amount of casualties coming in to be treated.I work for the V.A.system,and I can tell you for certainty that there is TOO MUCH PAPERWORK! TOO MUCH RED TAPE!

This problem has gone on for years. It started way before this administration took over. That said, I agree with you that since we are at war, these particular situations and facilities should have been looked at and in the process of being corrected, at least, long before now.
