Doesn’t this mean that, in general, people without tattoos are twenty points higher (more intelligent) than those with tattoos? Please note that I wrote, ``In General.``
Don’t tell me that surprises anyone

I think the conclusion was that dumb people make more dumb decisions more often than smart people. For those of you with tattoos, this means that some smart people are also capable of making some really dumb decisions, especially when drinking.

Just a little rebuttal......I happen to be fairly intelligent, both of my children are extremely intelligent....on of which was best of the class of 2000 and in the honors program in college....I happen to carry a 3.62 average in college.... WE ALL HAVE TATTOOS.....To us it is an expression of who we are....each tattoo symbolizes something.....It's morons that seem to think they are superior ..... Just because others choose to express themselves in alternative way does by no means make us of lesser intelligence..... Oh and by the way....since both of my children are married and their spouses both have tattoos (after they married my children) too....I guess that sometimes tattoos are sort of attractive ....ya think

To start with the end of your post first. Any reputable tattoo parlor will or should not give you a tattoo if they suspect you are drunk or under the influence of "something"
Regarding intelligence and tattoo's. Tattoo's use to be something of an honor. Service men often got tattooed with the branch they were in, out of pride. My father had a few service tattoos, and he spoke 3 languages fluently. He was not a stupid man by any means.
Now tattoos are of anything, dragons, skulls, daggers. What is that suppose to represent, nothing! So yes some tattoos are meaningless and stupid, but the person that gets them does not necessarily have a lower IQ. If you could post a site where these stats are recorded, then you could argue your point better.

Actually, depending on how the stats were sampled, they could be very biased. Bad statistics are thrown about all the time because so many people conduct surveys that are scientifically invalid. I'm really curious to see how these numbers were gathered before I make conclusions. I know there is the tattooed white trash stereotype, but there is also the tattooed beatnick intellectual stereotype as well. Interesting to think about though.

Where did you find such a weird information? Why should people who opt for a tattoo have a lower IQ? Any other prejudices about different groups of people? I have a piercing and a PhD - that probably lowers my IQ by 30, does it?

I think that the whole equation is more to do with tattoo/alcoholic consumption. Never underestimate a person's ability to get totally rat-faced while out on the town, and the farther away from home the town is, the better, and then wake up in the morning thinking "What the hell did I do last night, and who graffitied me ?"
I saw this more times than I care to think about, especially in the military. Quite intelligent and normally 'sober' people ended marking themselves for life.

For a more serious measurement you should consider taking Paul Cooijman's tests. His tests are widely accepted in the high IQ community. I am one of his highest scoring testees. I scored IQ 177 (16SD) on LIMIT, which is the highest recorded score on that test. Childhood scores are not comparable with adult deviation IQ's. I am age 20.

I agree one hundred percent. You don't have to say generally, as you are quoting, I assume, statistics that are accurate. I would think it would be a larger difference; 90% as compared to 120+%. Why disfigure your body unless you are stupid.

If you believe everything you read, yes. I have tattoos, and I'm a teacher. There are other teachers with tattoos as well. Sure we may not be Nuclear Physicists (Rocket Scientists), but everyone needs a teacher. Even you!

What do I think of these stats?
I think that 87.6 percent of statistics are made up and imaginary and that these belong within this group.
