If you burn it on iTunes or Windows Music player, it should work.
If you used a different program, try those^ (you computer should have one or the other-- or both)

how old is the CD player? It might not read the burned disk if it isnt very new. Or, you may have just accidently used a bad disk. OR, the downloaded music was a corrupt file and isnt a useable file any more. I suggest Itunes, but the are better free programs out there.

make sure when u r completed burning ,u close the cd disc. If u dont do that, then only the cd that u used to burn the cd will recognize it so u can add other songs or data. other CD players wont see it till u close it.Look at ur CD burning software help. It will explain .

If you downloaded it, is it iin MP3 format? If so, you need to have a CD player that plays MP3's. Or download a program to convert MP3 to CD format.

TRy another disk. Make sure you eject the cd when it tells you to and not before

It was either bunred incorrectly or bunred as mp3s... Try it with another disc and make sure the program you are using burns it in the 'cda' format.

check your burning software settings, specifically its copyright protection settings(or something like that) to make sure it is not copy protecting your cd's.
