The World Cup BY FAR!!!!!!!! NO JOKE thats a silly question and if you knew anything about the restof the world and not just what is popular in America then you wouldnt be asking this question.
Football or what the America calls soccer is the most important and most popular all over the world. NFL may be the most poplar in America but America is quite small compared to the rest of the world where the original football is the biggest. A normal match for any of the football cups and trophies are more popular around the world than any other sport especially in Anerica, but people living in America think the superbowl is the biggest lol thinking that Just because its Americas biggest event that it's the whole worlds biggest event.
lol this guy under me!!! NASCAR???? Once again only in America. It sometimes hurts to know that most Americans have no clue of the outside world that has nothing to do with America. So so so sad

Soccer is #1 in the world outside the USA, but I hate that stupid game it is the same game as football, tennis, basketball, table tennis, hockey, lacrosse, badminton, volleyball, waterpolo, team handball, squash, etc.
To me the best game and sport is BASEBALL
so I vote World Series
I love America
I love Baseball
Soccer is ok for the rest of the world
but I think we do a disservice to our children by playing it in the USA.
Basketball is fun and American, but it is really just another version of hockey,soccer,football, tennis etc.......
The Superbowl is the the singularly most watched, I think I've heard.
The events are all important to the players and fans, I mean those soccer fans will riot and kill each other I just hope they don't kill me for hating that boring pointless game (just my opinion) being an outspoken American.
March madness is a blast and college ball is awesome.
I get very excited by it and especially when I lived on campus!
when you say important ...to whom is it important?
Is any sporting event important, if so probably the Olympics is
most important!

I think that the most watched "sport" is nascar...kind of sad if you ask me
