Would like any suggestions for a resort on site at Disney world.. Have a girl age 12 and a boy age 9. We are currently looking into the Caribbean and Coronado Resort in the Moderate rated resorts. I am concerned about the Caribbean because there are A LOT of bad reviews for this place, people say it is really run down. Any advice would be helpful
We have already decided to add the meals and the hopper passes.

I used to work for a major disney resort (up until this fall) and know of each resort very well. First, each resort is going to have a bad review because people always have a high expectation of disney. Disney is supposed to have the best of the best customer service and hospitality, and sometimes people are just too picky. Yes, Disney (and surrounding areas) has better service than anywhere on the planet, and yes, people who take trips there are going to be spending a nice amount of money on this trip. But nickel and diming yourself with the hotel is not the way to go. Use the money toward the parks, dinners, and other fun things. Both resorts you suggested have transportation to the parks. Both resorts are popular. I would say that Coronado is better than a moderate rated resort and would suggest that hotel over carribbean. Both offer same services, but parents tend to like Coronado (its a lot more relaxing). The kids wont think twice about the hotel because they will either be passed out after the parks and wont appreciate it, or they will be soo excited to be in Disney that they would appreciate staying in a cardboard box. Well...not literally, but you catch my drift. Anyway, Coronado is nicer, but its really a toss up. Enjoy the parks and enjoy the great weather in Orlando. The meals are hit or miss....but good call purchasing the park hopper. You may find that one park has lines for rides and want to hop over to a different park. Thats why I suggest the hopper. ANd since your hotel offers transportation, u wont need to get a rental car.

I have stayed at the Caribbean Beach and loved it. We stayed there 2 years ago (my kids were 8 and 4 at the time) and I didn't think it was run down at all. I would recommend the resort to anyone. The service was great , although I thought the food court could be better. I really think the choice is a toss up. Both are in the moderate category, and both offer pretty much the same thing. I was at Coranado Springs, and really thought that it was Caribbean just with a little different decor. I too heard the reviews, but thought that they were unfounded. You are staying on property, have the park hopper option, and the dining plan, so you are 3 for 3!

Have a great trip!

Well, I went to the Caribbean Beach Resort about 2 years ago. They had bad service, the rooms where nice though. Not over the top or anything but nicer than you Holiday Inn Express. The worst thing was the bus service to the parks. It always took forever. I would reccomend checking into some of the other Moderate Resorts they may be a little nicer and have more friendly staff. In my opinion the Caribbean Beach Resort was to big, much bigger than any other Disney Resort I have stayed at. Although, I have only stayed at Deluxe Resorts besides that one. Hope this helps you!

Caribbean is not run down, it just isn't as geared toward kids as some of the other Disney resorts. I vote for the Coronado Springs Resort or the Port Orleans Resort. Both are great for families traveling with kids!

I would suggest a preferred room no matter where you stay so you are guaranteed a room near the main building/ food courts and a bus stop. I stayed this summer at Pop Century which is I think nicer than Caribbean Beach, but the pool at Caribbean Beach is awesome. Coronado springs is also really nice. No matter what you do make your dining reservations as early as possible because they quickly become full. allearsnet.com has menus available.
