There are many such liquids besides mercury. Carbon tetrachloride, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, benzene, liquid oxygen, liquid carbon dioxide, and all elements and most compounds in their liquid state. All liquids have a higher density than any gas. Your premise is incorrect.
