i get hot flashes and will hormone therepy work?

If your hysterectomy including removal of your ovaries too, then you do need hormones.

Yes, you will need hormone therapy. When your menstrual cycle stops naturally, it does so gradually, with a gradual decrease in hormone production. When you have surgery, it is an abrupt change and you will have hot flashes and all the other symptoms of menopause.
Most doctors today do not want their patients on hormones for an indefinite period, and you don't want that either because that can cause other medical problems. The most common procedure is to put you on full hormone treatment immediately after your surgery, and then gradually taper you off, so your system can respond in a more natural manner. That doesn't mean you won't have hot flashes and all that - you may still have them, but they will be nowhere near as severe and you won't feel as though you are losing your mind.

if you had a full hysterectomy,where they take your ovaries, yes you should be on some hormone therapy, but if you had a partial, and you still have ovaries, and as long as they are still working you do not need hormone therapy, for hot flashes use this over the counter capsule called,black gohosh, 1 capsule daily, get the 2.5 miligrams

HRT works great when you find the one that is right for you. There are so many different kinds out there that you might have to try several, but it's so worth it to hang in there until you find the one best for you.
