I'm currently a college student however I'm looking into either majoring in photography or media arts- film. So I'd like a laptop that is superior for both altering photo images and editing footage, but also good for doing the ordinary office type things - essays and such. What is the best Apple laptop computer?
The Macbook does seem like it would work well however the Macbook pro seems to have very good reviews for field work which is something that I'd like to get into.

Also if you have any input about Photo shop or other programs that would be great!

Thank you!

I'd recommend a computer with a lot of memory and a very powerful processor like an Intel Core 2 Duo. From what it sounds like, you should get an all-round powerful computer. I would stay away from Macs just because I find PCs a lot more versatile. My recommendations:

Dell XPS M1710
ASUS G Series
Dell Inspiron 9400

Asus computers are available through www.newegg.com, which is the best place online to buy computers and computer parts.
For starters, I'd look for a computer with the following:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.00ghz+
2 Gigs+ DDR2 RAM
160 gigs+ of hard drive space
ATI Radeon X1600 , Nvidia geforce 7700 (OR BETTER)

For pictures and photos Sony is best option and has a very good and clear display.
Cost wise a Dell is cheaper. Otherwise both can be used for normal office type things. Evaluate the price and see your budget
