I just bought a horse and would love to spice things up a little bit besides the old apple and carrot ... Please give me any ideas for a good horse treat.

I made these for my horse and he went crazy over them! You wont find this recipe online so listen up haha, its my own...

Get some molasses, natural if you can
Get some quaker plain oats
Dice up apples and carrots

Add one cup of molasses to 2 cups of oats, or whatever looks right, as long as there isnt a lot of molasses, you are going to want more oats then molasses. Mix in the apple and carrots to the mix--and form little cookie like balls (you will know if there is too much molasses if you are having a hard time making them) Put them on a cookie sheet and bake them at 400 degrees fahrenheit for 15 minutes. They wont be hard but they shouldnt be runny... they will be kind of gooey and they will almost seem like they didnt turn out right, haha, but they did. Put them in a baggie and refridgerate them... bring them out to your horse whenever you want!! GOOOOOD luck!

1 cup sweet feed
2 cup bran
1 cup flax seed
4 large carrots, shredded
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup applesauce

Mix molasses, brown sugar, carrots and applesauce in one bowl.
In another bowl mix the dry ingredients. Slowly combine the molasses
mixture with the dry ingredients. Add only enough molasses mixture to
form a thick dough, add more bran if necessary.

Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Using a tablespoon, drop batter
onto cookie sheet and flatten slightly to form portions about the size of a
silver dollar. Bake at 300 degrees F for about 1 hour. Flip and bake for
an additional 45 minutes until they are dried out. Keep checking to make
sure they don't burn.

i have made some horse treats for my horses but they usually prefer store bought. there favorite cookies are win treats. they are very inexpensive, shipping is included in price, will send freshly baked cookies to you door every month the day they where made. they are made of natural ingredients and the horses love the molasses in them. Win Treats also have other really good stuff for you to buy and i would recommend there equibiotics. i highly recommend this so the least you can do is look at their website. http://wintreats.net/
