Why would you? What possible reason could you have?

I mean daily contact, for three months since we split. If you want out of a relationship, don't you walk away and never look back?

Guys - have any of you ever done that? Say you care etc etc, but don't think you should 'be together'?? (I have never said we should get back together or discussed our relationship unless he brings it up first).

I'm having a very difficult time trying to understand what's going on with him. For me, every time I've ended a relationship I've never WANTED to look back.

Please, can anyone explain?

Not that you want to get back together with him, but he's "stringing" you along....sort of a "safety net" in case he fails. You need to put an end to his calling everyday, and get on with your life. He is still controlling your life...after HE left!

He still wants you as a 'friend'. This is because he still finds you to be a charming and entertaining person to be with. He also may enjoy flirting with you whether or not you two would still have the occaisional romp in bed. Even the idea that you two might still be intimate in the future may be enough to keep him interested. He may not want to be formally still in a relationship with you because he still wants to be free to consider being with other people or at least date others. He will not want to 'never look back' when it comes to you because he may fear that he may have made a mistake. So he either still wants you as a genuine friend and/or he is keeping you on the 'back burner' (or as a backup).

I have had and still have female friends. I had one for a fair while that was an ex. All of these women I have some attraction for...it doesnt mean necessarily that I would do anything with them...but I may flirt a bit. For me, the woman that I had the most feeling for was the ex. It can be really hard to get an ex out of your system because of the intimate contact in the past. It can be hard for a man to let go completely sometimes because we are so bad at sharing our feelings or opening up. We can sometimes do that with a girlfriend or an ex. We don't normally get that from male friends. Thats why guys mostly talk about rubbish like cars, sport (yawn), teasing each other and calling each other names (I'm feeling sleepy), sport again...

So if you like him enough as a friend, keep it going. But if the 'backup'thing is offensive forget it

If it's over it's over. As long as you keep talking so will he. Just tell him the next time he calls, it's time for him to move on because you have. And then stop excepting his calls. Some women would call this stalking.

Hope this helps
