In the first place, it is Tudor...the Tudor line died w/ Elizabeth the 1st the so-called "Virgin Queen"

The current Royal line came from Germany and was named Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. This was changed to Windsor (after the castle) because of anti-German sentiment during the War.

The Queen's last name is Windsor. Her husband Prince Philip's last name is Mountbatten.

Their children and grandchildren use the last name Mountbatten-Windsor.
