How often do religious folk come in here to lecture you?

I'm an atheist who hangs out in R&S alot. I'm getting the impression that religious zealots seem to like to come over to this forum and inform the folks here that "you're going to hell." They do that to us non-christians all the time, too, in the spirituality section. How often does that happen here?

They come here every day. Usually carefully selecting quotes from the Bible. They ALL are medical experts, and they know for sure that being gay is a mental problem, I believe that some of them are seeking for a cure.

The favourite name to call us is ‘trash’ and some of them claim that Jesus was a blue eyed, blond haired Republican.

The reason a lot of religious people compulsively harass other folks, is because the religious people have been victims of parents and religious teachers who abused them emotionally and spiritually. These abused religious people have been taught that God is angry and cruel.

They are naturally afraid of this God they have been taught. Their entire lives are shaped and defined by their overwhelming fear of an angry God.

Worshipping and fearing an angry God makes these abused people angry and neurotic, themselves.
So in turn, they abuse and harass other people, passing along a cycle of religious abuse.

There are several ways to escape the cycle of abuse, and it is similar to escaping physical abuse.
I recommend psychotherapy for most religious people, since they have years of built-up anger.

i think of you're confusing extremism and fundamentalism. The be conscious fundamentalism has earned a adverse connotation, yet became only meant as a reaction to non secular liberalism. An extremist could be somebody that shoots an abortionist interior the call of existence, a fundamentalist is somebody who insists on doing Christianity the way the scriptures say.

I hang out in both the R&S and the LGBT section. The religious trolling is about the same in both places, but I think it gets a little more vicious here.

Many times a day. If they were concerned about being a good witness, then they wouldn't harass and judge. But they like to think that they are special to God, despite the way their hypocrisy speaks more loudly than anything else they say.

not too often actually, usually it's just bigots claiming to be relious when you can tell they really aren't, on average from real christians about 1 a day but they are usually just curious, the majority don't come here because they think we hate them, i'm gay and a christian so i don't have any problems with anyone from your site, i go over there occassionally and don't get harrassed at all, they are actually nice, i'm sure you have your bigots over there too, I see them over there as well

quite a bit, they don't seem to realize that in the society& culture section all 8 catagories are posted, for some reson they think that the R&S section is the only one that exists among all 8 catagories

If we're going to hell, why do they feel the need to pick on lesbians, gays, and bisexuals too? I got a violation one time for supporting gay marriage...... some people need to grow up a little.

It happens far too often. We've got both the "you're going to hell" types and the "let Jesus save you" ones . . . neither who have any affect except to waste space and make people angry.

Da mn i hate when people do that. They just cant stand the fact that you are happy, and you dont give a sh it about what they think about you. They always got to get under ur skin about it!!!!

They come here sometimes, but I'm too busy FIGHTING trolls and other INVADERS and CREATURES so my time dedicated to the bible thumpers is fortunately nil.
