I am currently in high school and we are choosing courses for next year. If I want to pursue a career in the science/math direction, should I still take AP english/history courses? My interest lies in math and science, but my grades are equally as high in all areas. What I am sure to be taking are: Precalculus Honors, AP Biology, and Spanish Honors. I am not sure if I should take AP English and/or AP History. Any advice from any one with a career in math/science?

I am thinking of possibly becoming a doctor. I am still unsure, but I know that if I do not become a doctor, engineering might be another career choice.

Well, I'm still in high school too and my interests also lie in math/science. Ever since I was little I've wanted to pursue a career in aerospace engineering. I've always had a passion for airplanes and space for some reason and I'm female if that has anything to do with it. My advice is do something that you really enjoy because you don't want to be stuck with something that you don't like to do. If you don't like to do it then you won't have fun and you won't try as hard when you are doing it. Just find something that you really like to do and go with it. Good Luck!

Science and Math are used in certain professions like a physicist or a biochemist or a computer programmer, or even a teacher of science and Math.

However a strict career of Science and Math is not paying much these days if you can find a job in it..
Think of what will be in the future like electronic engineer that applies math to physics.
Science is a real broad category, you need to be more specific .
What would you like to be doing , experimentation, field work, sit behind a desk.
How much money do you want, a little , a lot, .

Want to just think and write, gaze a 'pooter screen, work with miniatures, create stuff.

Well, depending on the college you are going to attend (if you choose to go that route), a science/math major is usually in the Liberal Arts Program which means you would be required to take multiple classes in the Humanities (English/Lit) and Social Sciences (Econ/History). By passing the AP exams in those classes you can save a lot of time in college and be able to start more advanced math/science classes earlier and if you are lucky maybe graduate earlier. I took 7 AP Exams in high school and saved myself a year of college and still was able to double major in Mathematics and Economics. It would also improve college admission chances by taking those tougher classes. Good Luck!

im doing a science major in college now, and i took art history ap, and i would suggest it. you should concentrate your energy on AP classes in science and math so that u can get a 5 on the AP test and get credit for college, english and history AP wont help you. actually, english might be okay, since everyone has to take an annoying writing class first semster but if u pass AP english youre off the hook, but besides that one, nonscience AP classes, dont waste your time.

When you are an adult you will be expected to be educated in liberal arts as well as your career field. High school is too early to exclude non math and science studies.
